Good Chance Popiah
Concept Proposal (F&B)
Singapore
Kaizen Architecture collaborates with brand agency, ACRE on this project.
What if we consume the traditional South-east Asian snack, Popiah, in a ‘ramen’ store? Good Chance Popiah is a proposal that challenges the traditional experience of appreciating Popiah around the round table setting by bringing familiar elements of a ramen bar into the overall concept.
The project features modular dining spaces; depending on the size of the available shop lot, modules detach or combine to form 3 different types of dining spaces to appreciate Popiah eating. The base module is a ‘Popiah Bar’ overlooking into an open concept kitchen, the 2nd combines two modules to form a modern ‘kopitiam’ and the 3rd is a complete casual restaurant experience combining three modules. Materials and furniture are chosen to evoke familiarity and nostalgia and combined with contemporary details to create interesting dichotomy and expressions in space.
